🫂 Your Hugs

Your hugs

Incredible

Like a butterfly descending on my shoulders

So delicate and sweet and tender

You're beautiful

I always thought hugs had to be constricting and hard to be genuine

Tight and firm

With a promise of superior strength to grip and restrain

As a means to protect

Like a vice which somehow provides comfort

And I'd feared gentle hugs as non-committal and ingenuine

But yours embrace me with so much feeling

Like doves settling on my shoulders your arms settle down around me and draw you close

It's real

It's precious

Like the wings of angels coming to land

You settle gently your arms on and around me

Coax me back to you

I love how you melt into me and drape yourself across my shoulders

Both in my arms and reaching over and around my back

Somehow vulnerable yet nurturing

Soft, yet safe

So comforting and empathetic

You know and feel intuitively what's right

And provide that safety with such precise and delicate sweetness

Holding me to you and you to me

You're somehow all the support I need

You make me feel so cared for

So lucky to hold and be held by you

And it's so incredible to hold you

Please never stop
